Plan

The first step in designing a successful web site is to gather information. Many things need to be taken into consideration when the look and feel of your site is created.

This first step is actually the most important one, as it involves a solid understanding of the company it is created for. It involves a good understanding of you – what your business goals and dreams are, and how the web can be utilized to help you achieve those goals. We will work with you to help determine the requirements of the project, from a technical, creative, and organizational perspective.

The key elements at this stage are purpose, goals, target audience and content. Well-planned, well-structured content will help us create both the interaction and visual design systems needed.

Design

Drawing from the information gathered up to this point, it’s time to determine the aesthetics of your site. As part of the design phase, it is also important to incorporate branding elements, colour palettes, and typography that give each site its distinctive look. This will also help strengthen the identity of your company on the web site. Typically the designs will be presented as a .jpg image of what the final design will look like although in some instances it may be necessary to begin with a wireframe or UX sketches to help establish the design system, while communicating a sense of the functionality. Good communication between your team and ours at this stage is important, working closely together, exchanging ideas,and refining the design to ensure that the final website will match your needs and taste.

Develop

With the sites design and content firmly established it’s time to begin the process of coding your website. The technical architecture will usually be built on an Open Source Content Management System (CMS) like Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal, or an Open Source E-commerce System such as Opencart or Magento depending on your organization’s needs. Upon the selected base architecture the site’s modular PHP elements and the CMS Template Implementation (Theme), which will integrate the HTML/HTML5 templates is built. Custom CSS/CSS3 is utilised to define visual elements from the design stage. Whilst JavaScript, and JavaScript libraries such as JQuery are used for the interactive elements. Cross-Browser/Device Testing is conducted to check how page templates will render in major web browsers and mobile devices to maintain a coherent user experience.
